Languedoc-Roussillon (Lengadòc-Rosselhon, Llenguadoc-Rosselló) is one of the 26 regions of France. The region lies on the southern French Mediterranean coast and shares international borders with Spain and Andorra. Languedoc-Roussillon shares internal borders with the French regions of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Rhône-Alpes, Auvergne, and Midi-Pyrénées. The capital of Languedoc-Roussillon region is Montpellier, built on hilly ground next to the River Lez some 10Km (6 miles) inland from the Mediterranean.
