The region of West Lothian in Scotland lies just west of the City of Edinburgh, and shares borders with the other Scottish regions of Falkirk, North Lanarkshire, the Scottish Borders and South Lanarkshire. The main towns in West Lothian are Armadale, Bathgate, Blackburn, Broxburn, Linlithgow, Livingston and Whitburn. West Lothian has plenty of attractions for the visitors, from historic sites and castles through to parks and rugged countryside. Some of the top attractions include:- Linlithgow Palace - birth place of Mary Queen of Scots whose ruins overlook Linlithgow Loch in a beautiful park.
- House of the Binns – found near Linlithgow, this was the home of the Dalyell family since 1612.
- Hopetoun House - magnificent, 300 year old manor house, considered by many to be 'Scotland's finest stately home' with rich late Georgian through Edwardian interior.
- Blackness Castle - overlooking the Firth of Forth this 15th century castle was built by the Crichtons and became a Royal Castle.
- Cairnpapple Hill - hill with a Neolithic ceremonial henge monument and Bronze-Age burials with great views over central Scotland as far as Goat Fell on Arran on a clear day.
- Beecraigs Country Park - 1,000 acre country park with plenty of activities, sports and various walks and camping sites.
- Almondell and Calderwood Country Park - 220 acre park in Mid Calder with woodland and river side walks, visitor center and restaurant.
