Prešov Region - Travel & Information

Prešov Region (Prešovský kraj) is an administrative region of eastern Slovakia. The capital of the region is Prešov. To the south is the Košice Region and to the west is Žilinský kraj. It shares international borders with Poland to the North and Ukraine to the east. Between the 11th to 20th centuries it was part of Spiš, an administrative region of the Hungarian Empire. Spiš is still recognized today as one of the 21 tourist regions of Slovakia, full of important historical towns and castles, many of the designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Prešovský kraj contains stunning areas of natural beauty, including the Low and High Tatras mountains, in which are several popular skiing and wither sports regions.
