About Andalucía
Andalusia is the second largest region in Spain, covering much of the southern coastal region. The capital city of Andalusia is Seville. It shares internal borders with Extremadura, Castile-La Mancha and Murcia, and an international border with
Portugal. South of Andalucia lie the Mediterranean Sea and, west of Gibraltar, the Atlantic Ocean. Along this coastline are several very popular tourist regions famous for fine beaches and good nightlife. These include the Costa de la Luz, Costa del Sol, Costa Tropical, Costa Almería regions, which are highly developed and full of beach resorts and hotels.
Inland, Analusia has much to offer in terms of tranquility, ancient towns and cities, and sites of historical improtance. Andalucia was occupied by the Romans and, for the best part of 700 years, the Moors who invaded from Morocco and occupied much of Spain for parts of the middle ages. Many of the towns show evidence of Muslim influence in their architecture and naming. Important towns and cities within Andalusia include Algeciras, Almeria, Antequera, Cádiz, Córdoba, Granada, Huelva, Jaén, Jerez ,Málaga, Ronda and Sevilla (Seville).
