Catalonia is one of the autonomous regions of Spain. It is the easternmost region of Spain. To the north is France and Andorra. The Mediterranean Sea is to the east, and the Catalonian coast extends southwest from France for about 580km. Further south is Valencia and Aragon is to the west. Catalonai is divided into the four provinces of Barcelona, Girona, Lleida, and Tarragona.

There are several languages spoken in Catalonia, each referring to the area in a slightly different way. The different names for Catalonia are Catalunya (Catalan), Cataluņa (Spanish) and Catalonha (Aranese Occitan).
