About Mexico

Mexico (México ) is more properly known as the 'United Mexican States' (Estados Unidos Mexicanos). The country is bounded by the USA to the north and Guatemala and Belize to the south. To the east is the Pacific Ocean and to the west is the Atlantic Ocean, with the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. The capital city is Mexico City.

Mexico is divided into a federation of thirty-one free and sovereign states, each with a regional capital. Running down the country are two mountain ranges, Sierra Madre Oriental and Sierra Madre Occidental, with both temperate and tropical zones.
