Méribel Skiing

There are four places in the area that all carry the name "Méribel".

The main skiing area is around Méribel Les Allues (also more recently called Meribel Centre) situated at 1450m. Méribel Centre is purpose built (but tastefully done). While being lower than Mottaret, Méribel Centre has a better reputation for shops and restaurants (including Dick's Tee Bar).

Meribel-Mottaret, usually just called Mottaret. This is a purpose built resort renown for slope-side convenience allowing great direct access to the slopes from the accommodation. Because of it's height, Mottaret is also a good choice for early or late season ski holidays, having both a good reputation for good snow conditions and fantastic access to the rest of Les Trois Vallees area.

The original village is Méribel Village, situated at 1300m, and it still retains a lot of its original character with a village oven and old chapel. The village is linked with to the ski area by a fast chair and is less that a mile from Meribel Centre.

Given these three distinct towns that make up the Méribel skiing resorts, it is easy to find the atmosphere and resources that suit your holiday.

Cross Country Skiing

There are 33 km of cross country skiing in the Méribel Valley, giving skiers access to the Natural Reserve of cembro pines at Lake Tuéda (Méribel-Mottaret), and the protected forest at Altiport, which is the starting point of the 8 km track to Courcheve. However, this expands to 90km (55 miles) of trails of all grades when combined with those available in Courchevel and La Tania in the rest of The Three Valleys.

Skiing Information for Les Trois Vallées

Courchevel and Val Thorens are the other 2 main ski resorts in Les Trois Vallées. The smaller resorts joined to the area are Brides-les-Bains, La Tania, Les Menuires and St Martin de Belleville. Les Trois Vallées form one of the largest skiing areas of the world with 600km of piste and 2 snowboard parks, giving access to 293 runs, via 185 ski lifts.
