Path to Temple of Ten Thousand Buddhas - Description
The Monastery of Ten Thousand Buddhas has become something of a tourist attraction in Hong Kong, though the principle purpose of the complex is a place of worship. The main Temple of Ten Thousand Buddhas at the top of the hill contains some 13,000 small Buddha statues, which line the walls.
Entrance to the path up to the temple is poorly sign posted, and is quite steep in places. It is worth stocking up on refreshments before starting the journey, on which you will ascend some 400 steps. The diversity and number of large Buddha forms that line both sides of the path to the temple helps to distract from the journey. All sorts of statues are here, and some can be seen in this panorama.
