Abbey Recreation Ground in Merton Park - FURTHER INFORMATION

Abbey Recreation Ground in Merton Park - London visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Abbey Recreation Ground in Merton Park' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Greater London.

The Abbey Recreation Grounds lie just north of Morden Hall Park in south London. The green space is used for various sports and playing fields. Along the north edge of the park is a woodland path that follows the old railway line. This was incorporated into the Merton Park Green Walk in the 1990's. Other parts of the park include the Nursery Road Playing Fields and at the western end is an area left wild with a pond as a nature reserve. The park was once part of the Merton Place Estates that belonged to Admiral Nelson between 1801-1805 just prior to the Battle of Trafalgar. Much of the estate was built over later that century.
