Hyde Street - Chestnut Street Junction - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT

A panorama taken from the junction of Hyde Street and Chestnut Street 4 blocks up from Fisherman's Wharf and the cable car terminus. This panorama was an attempt to show the steep hills and straight roads typical of San Francisco. The image also captures one of the iconic famous San Francisco cable cars just coming up the hill. You can see a small part of the San Francisco Bay at the bottom of Hyde Street.

Hyde Street - Chestnut Street Junction - FURTHER INFORMATION

Hyde Street - Chestnut Street Junction - San Francisco visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Hyde Street - Chestnut Street Junction' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from California.

Chestnut Street is perhaps best-known as an ultra-fashionable shopping district and scene to hang-out and people-watch whilst sitting at sidewalk cafes. Generations of San Francisco's youth have flocked here to see and be seen. Whilst that remains, Chestnut Street is also an excellent venue for quality shopping, including the recent opening of an Apple Store. Whilst the nearby Pier 39 malls and restaurant cuisine caters for general interest, Chestnut Street aims for distinctive, discernment and individual boutique style.

This intersection shows the steep slope down Hyde Street towards the Bay area. Chestnut street runs perpendicular, through the Marina and Cow Hollow districts, parallel to Union and Lombard Streets.
